Hike on, and drink up!

Is it wrong for me to make my first blog post about alcohol? Eh, the answer to that question is debatable! Currently I am going to have to answer "no" because it is a Friday night and I am contemplating walking allllllll the way into my kitchen and grabbing a beer. So CHEERS to my first blog post being about sweet sweet alcohol!

This blog content is for everyone in need of creative ways to travel, hike, backpack, or carry alcohol for long distances. This highly important information doesn't only benefit the average hiker, but could also be highly useful when considering taking your wedding onto the trails and away from the classic wedding venue set up. There won't be a bartender named Danny waiting for you at the end of the trail (unless you have an Uncle named Danny that is joining you on your adventure). But with that being said, you're backpacking wedding party will need to find creative ways to pack and transport all that delicious champagne and whisky to the wedding destination!

Let us consider our options:

Beer? It is definitely doable, but why would you want to weigh yourself down with low alcohol content beer when you could pack wine, champagne, or liquor??? That is just my personal preference, but if you are really passionate about having beer on your wedding excursion this link provides you with a super creative way to pack tons of beer for hardly any weight in your pack! check it out.

What about champagne and wine? For starters, I have yet to find the magical secret of how to keep champagne bubbly after it has been taken out of the bottle. If I find the secret I will be sure to share with you guys once I do! For now, if you REALLY want to pack champagne be sure to POP the bottle RIGHT before you leave on your trip and transfer it into a wine-bag ASAP. You will still probably end up with flat champagne, but it is better than nothing if you really want to pack a bottle. If weight isn't a huge concern for your group and the importance of bubbly champagne is high, then feel free to pack the entire bottle. I just want to suggest lightweight ways for getting alcohol on the trail. Wine does not have the same problem as champagne does. So feel free to load up as many wine bags, water bottles, or even camelbacks on the trip that you would like! Even going to the store and buying boxed/bagged wine is a smart decision! That is approximately 6 bottles of wine in ONE bag! I will drink to that!

Now let us talk about simply putting our big girl pants on and packing the easiest, lightest, most "bang for your buck" alcohol ever. Liquor! Maybe have Uncle Mike and Tim pack in some heavier bagged wine and champagne for the sake of wedding traditions. Otherwise, packing hard liquor is the way to go! It doesn't matter what your personal preference is...just bring it! Are you a Whiskey Gal? (men can be whisky gals too) Bring that flask (or two)! Do you prefer gin, vodka, or rum? Use a light weight water bottle or even another wine bag!

You might be thinking, "with all this alcohol, where will we pack our water?" PLEASE do not forget to pack water, but remember you can always pump water from the nearby stream, river, or other water source with your light weight water filter. Water can be harvested, alcohol can not! ;)

There are so many ways in which you can pack your drink of choice! I hope the provided link above proves to be a second helpful read!

CHEERS! And drink responsibly!
