Having your wedding on the trails means that you have chosen to have a highly intimate and simplified day. Planning things like table seating arrangements, renting linen, renting silverware & glassware, booking a DJ, choosing centerpieces, buying a cake, and soooooo many other classic wedding-worries won't even need to cross your mind because.....well, you can't have those things on the trail anyways!!!
Just because you have chosen to have a simple day without the typical fluff & guff, does not mean that you are against keeping other traditional aspects alive. This blog post will suggest a couple ways in which you can keep wedding traditions alive in a new creative way, OR be completely unique and do your very own personalized ceremonial activity!
Unique suggestion #1: Lantern Releasing
Lantern releasing is the perfect mini ceremony that you and your soulmate can do together on your special day. You can make the release signify anything you'd like! Want to co-write your vows or other sweet messages on the lantern and release it to the heavens? Go ahead!! OR do you want your first prayer as a married couple to be prayed over the lantern and sent up into the skies in a symbolic way. Make this activity ANYTHING you want it to be! It is also easy to pack and extremely light weight!

Unique suggestion #2: Popping the Champagne!
How much fun does that look?!?! this ceremonial activity will weigh more than the lantern release, but one bottle of champagne doesn't take up THAT much space in a backpack, and it will also become extremely lighter on your hike back out due to the fact the champagne will be splattered all over the mountains and inside your bellies! Have this champagne POP be the pivotal "CHEERS" moment to starting a new life together as husband and wife! Everyone will make toasts, champagne will POP, and the party will begin!

Unique suggestion #3: Natural Aisles & Altars
Such a big part of a traditional wedding is walking down the aisle and standing beneath an altar. You can't very well pack an altar on your back, and you just gotta go with the flow on what you turn into an aisle. People who get married on the trial already have hearts that are highly passionate about the outdoors. These passionate people probably already recognize natural beauty where ever they go, but it is good to keep an extra observant eye when searching for the perfect spot to turn into your aisle and altar. Find the perfect tree to act as your altar, or find the perfect row of trees to mark out your aisle! Either way, the point is: there is beauty all around us. If you look for it, you will find the perfect spots!
